What is ‘Julie’s Poem’?
At Midlands Care, we are all about heartfelt connections and meaningful experiences. We are so happy to share something incredible – a poem written and recited by a special resident at The New Wycliffe – Care Home Leicester.
In this moving piece, Julie reflects on her time as someone being discharged from hospital and searching for a care home, suitable for her. Whilst her family searched for a home special enough for Julie, they were told to go through a list of 19 care homes by their social worker – with every single home sadly turning Julie and her loved ones away.
Her initially difficult journey then turned into a warm welcome from the team at The New Wycliffe, where the healthcare specialist Home Manager went to visit Julie at the hospital to offer her a care assessment. The poem then goes through how her experience of the home impacts her to make such a difference in her life as she meets our dedicated team, the homely environment.
A Full-Circle Moment
What makes Julie’s experience and poem even more special is the fact that she was a teacher for one of Midlands Care’s Director, Shiv Raja, during her professional working life. Julie helped shaped Shiv’s early years, and to now have Julie as part of The New Wycliffe family was truly an extraordinary full-circle moment.
Recognition of Our Homes
This video below is a testament to the exceptional colleagues, and care provision at Midlands Care homes. Julie’s experience and story is why we do what we do, and why we are all so proud to call The New Wycliffe a home from home.
